Improved Camera Mount

I have been struggling since the begining of this project to find a reliable way to secure the Logitec eyeball camera I’m using in the greenhouse. The big issue is that it’s an eyeball so securing it with cable ties and gaffa tape has proven to be unreliable.

Mk1

Mk1 of the mount was a piece of plastic cut from the side of a orange juice bottle. It was then bent round one of the metal pipes that forms the greenhouse structure. A small hole in the plastic allows the ‘official’ camera mount to be used to secure it.

Mk2

Whilst finishing off yet another drink of orange squash I was thinking about this issues I had with the somewhat flimsey mk1 camera mount. I went back to the bottle and spotted the nice blue carrying handle on the top of the bottle. Carrying end would make a good securing point and the hole would allow the eyeball camera to just sit where I placed it.

The only problem was removing the blue carrying handle without damaging the bottle. Well surfice to say I found another bottle in recyling and hacked it to pieces.

This is from the 4 litre bottle — however it would appear that Sainsbury’s not longer sell this size bottle. I must admit whilst an excellent camera mount it was a little heavy for the kids to pour from.
